Unlimited Money, Unlimited Scruples

The big pharma industry is the most profitable business on the planet.  In fact, it is an industry so profitable, they are able to spend $16 billion (yes that's billion, with a B) on advertising each year.

Yes, there are times when the drugs they produce save lives.  I am not disputing that.  However, most of the drugs they produce and market have nothing to do with saving lives.  They are symptom cover-ups and quick fixes for things that healthy living and a positive attitude would correct.  It's a branch of the legal drug trade that I have a problem with.  We now have 1 in 6 adults in this country on Prozac or similar "lifestyle" drugs, we have nearly 8 million kids on Ritalin, we have antibiotics that are overprescribed by over 50% and the list goes on and on.

Let's face it.  We have a massive drug problem.  In 1998 the US spent $93 billion on prescription drugs and in the same year spent $96 billion to treat the side effects of those prescriptions.  Not to mention the real kicker.  Prescription drugs, properly prescribed and taken, KILL 106,000 Americans each year.  And that's only in hospitals.  Never mind the nursing homes, people taking them at home and those taken IMPROPERLY.

You may ask why I encourage patients to stay drug-free or why I push you to refer friends and family to the office.  Well, this stuff is the alternative to chiropractic!!

The scariest part of it all is that while you are reading this, the legal drug trade has executives in fancy suits, fancy board rooms, trying to figure out ways to get more of us hooked on these meds.  To make it even worse, some of them are trying to figure out how to get these drugs into our children!!

In the words of the band The Temptations, "I ain't too proud to beg!". I beg you to tell people about chiropractic and this office, come find out what we have to offer.  If we can merely keep someone you love from taking unnecessary meds, we may literally save their life!!  We may keep them from being one of the 106,000 Americans that lose their lives to the most profitable business on the planet, the legal drug trade.
